The Po River delta between Chioggia and Ravenna in the province of Ferrara is undoubtedly one of the most alluring and impressive landscapes. On one side lies the sea with its Lidi and its wide, sandy beach stretching over 23 km, and on the other, the 1,000-year-old wetlands of Comacchio, which have become even more appealing to nature lovers thanks to their new walking and hiking trails.
Flora and fauna, together with history, numerous works of art, and points of interest, bring this enchanting and natural area to life. The historic lagoon area extends to the Abbey of Pomposa, the Castle of Mesola, and the nearby Renaissance city of Ferrara.

After flowing for 652 km, the Po empties into the Adriatic Sea via seven branches, pushing the 400-square-kilometer delta forward by dozens of meters each year. You can enjoy its melancholic landscape on flat-bottomed boats through the Polesine (as the delta region is called) or explore it by bike on countless cycling routes along the dikes.
The unique charm of this watery landscape has served as a backdrop for many famous Italian directors (Visconti, Bertolucci, Antonioni, and others).
