The landmark of Comacchio: the Trepponti.
With its canals, pretty bridges, and palaces, it reminds one a bit of Venice, like so many places on the Italian Adriatic. Particularly noteworthy is an unusual example of its kind: the Trepponti Canal Bridge from 1634, featuring two fortified turrets.

Seaside resorts
near Comacchio
Among the most important beach resorts in Comacchio, listed from north to south, are Lido di Volano, Lido delle Nazioni, Lido di Pomposa, Lido degli Scacchi, Porto Garibaldi, and Lido degli Estensi - not to mention, of course, the dog-friendly beaches, the number of which has increased encouragingly along the Adriatic coast in recent years.
Each of these places has its own unique character, but what they all share is their connection to nature - especially Lido di Volano, which borders a magnificent nature reserve with unique flora and fauna.
And nudists will also find what they're looking for in Emilia-Romagna. Although a few kilometers from Comacchio, south of Lido di Classe lies one of the most beautiful public beaches in Emilia-Romagna - the Bassona.
Here, however, you can enjoy not only nature and relaxation by the sea, but of course also the cuisine. For those who appreciate good eel (a local specialty here), perhaps accompanied by a Bosco Eliceo (the name comes from the fact that rare holm oaks are found near the vineyards), Comacchio is particularly recommended.
Trip to Ferrara
Ferrara, with its medieval and Renaissance architecture, is the artistic heart not only of the Po Delta but of the central Adriatic as well.
The magnificent center is dominated by the castle dating from 1385, seat of the Duchy of the Este. During a city tour, be sure to visit the cathedral, whose style blends Romanesque and Gothic elements, and the Renaissance-style bell tower.
Also worth seeing are the Casa Romei, where Lucrezia Borgia spent her vacations, the Palazzo Schifanoia, and the Palazzo of Ludovico il Moro.

Horseback Riding Tours in Comacchio

through the Valli di Comacchio
There are plenty of activities to enjoy at the Lidi di Comacchio. Of course, there are the usual options (mini-golf, beach volleyball, tennis, archery), but the landscape here is also ideal for horseback rides through the Valli di Comacchio.
Under the guidance of local guides, you can embark on wonderful tours through the fascinating world of the Po Delta. And don't worry: you won't be riding a fiery Arabian, but a horse from the beautiful Camargue. They are known for their gentle temperament.
If you don't feel quite confident in the saddle, you can of course switch to a bicycle.
