The Festa de 'Borg takes place every two years in September and is the most important festival in Rimini. The festival is significant for Rimini because it is deeply rooted in the community. Yet it is still a relatively new event:

The Festa de Borg was celebrated for the first time in 1979 and met with an enormous response (the city administration of Rimini was not entirely blameless in this, as it had proposed demolishing the medieval Borgo San Giuliano to create a residential area there).
