Along the illuminated waterfront promenades and from the magnificently decorated balconies of the palaces lining the Grand Canal, a huge crowd gathers to watch a spectacular fireworks display that cascades into the sea. Afterward, the boats and gondolas set off for the Lido, accompanied by music and singing, to wait there for the sunrise. On Sunday, Holy Masses and processions take place, and this magnificent festival concludes with the "Regata del Redentore" (starting at 4:00 p.m. on the Grand Canal).
Visitors coming from Jesolo are advised to travel by boat via Punta Sabbioni. It is helpful to know that boat service is temporarily suspended in the evening due to the fireworks and the fact that hundreds of boats gather in St. Mark's Basin for the festival.
However, following the festival, transportation from Venice is provided from the San Zacharia station to the Lido of Venice and Punta Sabbioni or Jesolo.

Following a devastating plague epidemic, the Venetian Senate vowed in 1576 to organize a festival on the island of Giudecca in honor of Jesus Christ, the Risen One, to save the city's inhabitants.
This festival is extremely popular among Venetians and is celebrated with great pomp and circumstance. Hundreds of exquisitely decorated boats gather on Saturday evening in the Canale della Giudecca and in St. Mark's Basin. Thousands of spectators make their way across the specially constructed boat bridge.
