Marano Lagunare
Photo creditIt has a long history. Founded in 81 BC as a legionary town, Marano was eventually conquered by the Venetians in 1543. Unfortunately, nothing remains of the fortress walls.
The town center is marked by Piazza Provveditori, which is dominated by a tower that is more than a thousand years old.
In general, Marano is a good starting point if you're planning trips to Friuli and Veneto in particular.

"In Love with Italy" has beautifully captured the atmosphere of Marano. It's the perfect place to enjoy authentic sardines in saor. If you'd like, you can even buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen. The Campagna Amica market takes place every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Marano Lagunare lies on the edge of the Valle Canal Novo Nature Reserve, partly on small islands separated by canals. This is the northernmost lagoon in the Mediterranean.
In honor of Marano's patron saint, a Sunday procession out to sea is held every year in mid-June. During the three-day festivities, accompanied by music, visitors can sample various seafood dishes and enjoy the atmosphere and festive mood.
