Port of Grado
Beach walks on the sunny island
It was already famous long before Venice even existed: Grado. Today, it is the sophisticated vacation island at the northern end of the Gulf of Venice. And it's no coincidence that Grado is also known as the "Sun Island" or the "Golden Island." Today, one might just as easily add: "Gulf Island."
You reach Grado via a man-made causeway that connects the town (population ~8,000) to the mainland. On a clear day, you can even see Duino and the Alps in the distance.
For anyone who likes to shop somewhere other than the usual stores. Here is an overview of all the weekly markets along the Adriatic coast.
Wellness!
Grado Seawater Spa
The Habsburgs already knew just how beautiful Grado is. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, the Austrian nobility enjoyed the soothing effects of the local thermal baths and thermal waters here. It's a wonderful tradition that is still cherished today. / more
Right next to the Grado Thermal Baths is a water park, the Parco Acquatico di Grado.
