Built between 1500 and 1700, these aristocratic villas are impressive monuments to Venetian power during that era.
They were not only status symbols but were primarily used to enjoy a pleasant summer retreat with friends (and, of course, to impress business partners in a manner befitting their status - which is no different today).

The best way to reach Villa Pisani in Stra (not to be confused with the Palladian Villa Pisani in Bagnolo di Lonigo) on the Brenta River is by car (a large parking lot is available).

Even from the outside, the imposing, magnificent building is almost visually overwhelming. But in a good way, because the building has a captivating, positive aura (compared to other structures found in this area).

Today the villa is a national museum.

The main entrance leads into the villa's impressive grounds. Please come in:

Passing through the entrance hall, one finally reaches the garden. There are also garden structures there that serve no apparent purpose other than, perhaps, to please the eye and provide shade.

The maze in the Villa Pisani park - it's a blast! From the tower in the middle, you can enjoy looking down on the other people wandering around (as long as you forget that you have to find your way out yourself).

In the farthest corner of the garden, shaded by dense trees, you'll find all sorts of bizarre figures (the ones pictured are still the most harmless). They guard the ice cellar of Villa Pisani. After all, the lords and ladies didn't want to go without cool Prosecco even in the summer.

The gardens of Villa Pisani are a real treat, even for someone who isn't usually into gardens. The owner spared no expense or effort in creating something special here, and he certainly succeeded:

In addition to the architecture, which is a feast for the eyes, there's no shortage of entertainment. The maze alone is enough to ensure that - it's a wonderful place to while away the time (and you're allowed to, after all, you're on vacation).
