Lido Venice

The story behind the Circolo Golf Venezia is a short one - and it almost sounds like a joke. Here's how it goes: A millionaire wanted to play golf...
And so the course was built.

Directions

If you're not coming by your own boat, we recommend using public transportation or the boat operated by Cooperativa San Marco Alilaguna (which departs every hour at 10:10 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 12:10 p.m., etc.) and takes you to Lido Venezia in 40 minutes.

From there, the best option is to take a water taxi.

This legend from 1928 may or may not be true - but the challenges posed by the course's difficulty are painfully real. It is no coincidence that a round at the Circolo Golf Venezia ranks among the 10 most demanding courses in Italy.

Sandy soil, natural drainage, and an evergreen course that is playable 12 months a year on all 18 holes.

The golf course is beautiful not only because of its rich vegetation of pines, willows, and poplars - don't forget that all of this was still quite extraordinary in 1928, as the Lido was then dominated almost exclusively by dunes - but also because of its history, which is still palpable everywhere.

The golf course is located at the southern tip of the Lido, specifically at the entrance to the Malamocco harbor, an important strategic area of Venice. Even today, the course winds between the battlements and the ruins of the 17th-century Venetian fortress, which was later expanded first by the French, then by the Austrians, and finally by the Italians.
